Meet our horses!
Here at Finca Poderosa the horses are part of the family.
They are appreciated and loved for who they are.
Our horses are Bonus, Poderosa, Dakota and Khaleesi.

BONUS
Gelding
12 years old
Norwegian warmblood
Bonus is big and beautiful and the king of the ranch! He is Tara's most trustworthy horse. He was born in November 2011, and got the name Bonus because his owner didn't think her horse was pregnant. So when little baby Bonus was born she named him Bonus, because he was a Bonus. Tara bought him 2 years later and together they started to build Tara Orlin Horsemanship.
Tara filmed and promoted a lot of the work she did with Bonus, and their partnership inspired people and helped Tara grow her business.
Bonus is the alpha horse at the ranch, but he is really sweet and gentle. He is smart and wise and knows when to be friendly and when to discipline. He has got the biggest heart and is extremely loyal. He is only ridden bridleless and will actually get offended if you put a halter on him.

He is consciously ahead and so much more than just a horse. He is a true friend, and an amazing partner.
PODEROSA
Mare

Poderosa is a real lady. A woman. She is a true beauty and a very special horse that Tara is really proud of because she was a gift from her trainer Alfonso, when she lived in Spain.

Tara got her in spring 2020, and brought her to Norway later that year. Poderosa wasn't happy with the traditional training in Spain, and Alfonso decided to let her be free in the field and try to breed with her, because of her great pedigree. But she never got pregnant, so she was living wild and free for years until Tara got her.
​
When Tara started working with her, she soon realised that Poderosa had some trauma. She was nervous and terribly scared to be ridden. Tara's guess was that she had an undiscovered ulcer, which made her feel a lot of pain when they tried to ride her.
Poderosa has become a lot more relaxed and confident, but still needs time.
DAKOTA

Dakota is one of three horses Tara bought in Spain. She came to Tara with her two sisters. Tara was suppose to only buy one horse, Dakota, but when she saw the perfect sister trio- the Buckskin - Dakota, the Cremello - Khaleesi, and the Palomino - Sunshine, she decided to take them all home. They were one year at the time and even though they came from a breeder, they were really skinny and in poor condition. Tara was suppose to only keep Dakota, and find good homes for the other two in Norway. But she ended up falling in love with them, and only sold the palomino to a friend and kept the other two.

Tara always wanted a western looking buckskin horse- a horse perfect for riding the way Tara likes to ride. Dakota is the perfect one. The dream horse. She is very smart, super strong, funny, kind and a really quick learner. She is beautiful inside and out. She is very athletic and loves to run and jump and rear and play. When she is ridden she takes the job seriously and does her best to do what she is told. She has that wild playful spirit, but at the same time she is very obedient and dont want any drama. She is simply an amazing horse!
KHALEESI
Mare

Khaleesi is special. Not only her looks, she is one of a kind. She got her name from Game of Thrones because she is blonde, blue-eyed, beautiful and powerful. When Tara got her she was 1 year old and extremely skinny. You could see every bone in her body, she was just skin and bones. Tara was scared she would not make it, and that the other horses would push her around or try to kick her out of the pack. But they didn't. Khaleesi was weak, but it never stopped her. When the other horses ran, she ran. When the other horses played, she played. She never let her weakness stop her. It didn't take long before she gained weight and muscles and with her physical strength, the strength of her spirit came forward more and more.

Unlike a lot of other alpha horses who wants to kick out weak horses, Bonus took her under his wings and protected her. He is her hero and she tries to mimic everything he is doing. Thanks to his amazing leadership- and friendship, Khaleesi has blossomed and become the most confident horse in the pack.

She is fearless, tough and always ready for adventure. If you go to the pasture she will be the first one coming to say hello. If you try to take a photo, she will be up front at the center. She loves attention, loves being the center of attention, and she brings so much joy and laughter. A true blessing.
